TopChoice Caregivers – Autism Waiver Services

At TopChoice Caregivers, we are dedicated to providing high-quality home- and community-based services for children with autism. Our mission is to empower children to reach their full potential through individualized treatment planning and meaningful community engagement. Families have the flexibility to choose the services and frequency that best meet their child’s needs, while we ensure a careful match with skilled Technicians who can provide safe, compassionate, and professional support.

We serve children enrolled in the Maryland Autism Waiver Program, helping families remain together, continue living at home, and participate fully in their communities.

Respite Care

Our Respite Care Technicians provide:

• Assistance with daily living activities

• Engagement in activities tailored to the child’s interests

• Support in managing behavioral or emotional challenges

• Overnight care in a safe and nurturing environment

• Supervised community and social development outings as requested by the family

Family Consultant Services (FC)

• At TopChoice Caregivers, our Family Consultant Services are designed to support participants with autism and their families by ensuring consistency in strategies across home, school, and community environments. Our Family Consultants work closely with families to create family-oriented goals that directly benefit the child and promote stability and growth.

• During these services, families receive hands-on training in one-to-one interventions with their child. Our multidisciplinary team includes Social Workers, Special Education Teachers, Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapists, Counselors, and Behavioral Analysts.

• Services provided by our Family Consultants include:

• Training families to help their child recognize and respond safely to potentially dangerous situations.

• Hands-on instruction for parents and caregivers on interventions to use at home and in the community.

• Guidance to help the child acquire, retain, or improve skills that support independence and daily functioning.

• Referrals to community resources, advocacy support, and guidance on family needs to strengthen the overall family unit.

Individual Intensive Supportive Services (IISS)

• TopChoice Caregivers’ Individual Intensive Supportive Services (IISS) provide one-on-one support for children with autism in the home and community. These services are tailored to the participant’s treatment plan and focus on goal-directed, task-oriented activities designed to meet the child’s unique needs. Our IISS Technicians receive ongoing supervision and guidance from our professional clinical staff.

• Services provided by our IISS Technicians include:

• Engaging the participant in community integration and social activities.

• Teaching behavior management skills and promoting emotional stabilization.

• Supporting development of daily living skills to improve independence at home.

• Enhancing self-expression and interpersonal communication to foster confidence, security, and well-being.
